It had changed my life, I’m full of energy, confidence and feel so much healthier. I know have a normal BMI too.

I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life and have considered surgery in the past.
A friend of mine who had had the surgery boasted fantastic results and she recommended I meet with Prof Senaptai and discuss my options.
I discussed the surgery and the options with Professor Senapati at the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle.
He was a very pleasant man and very professional. He discussed the different types of surgery and recommended the gastric sleeve as the best option, with the highest success rate.
He was very friendly, non judgemental and informative.
I was well informed about the surgery and he was clear about what I needed to do before and after the surgery.
On the day of the surgery he came to see me, as did the anesthesiologist and again after the surgery.
My experience at the Alexandra was amazing. The staff were friendly, helpful and caring.
Professor Senapati was recommended to me and I would highly recommend him too.
Before my surgery I was 17 and a half stone and had yo-yo dieted and struggled with my weight for years. I had ballooned to a size 20/22.
I have inflammatory bowel diseaes and riddled with inflammatory arthritis. It had gotten to the point where exercising and walking were causing great pain to my back, hips and knees. I was on methotrexate to help with the arthritis. I did try to exercise to loose weight but the pain made it quite difficult.
Since having the surgery I have lost 5 stones, coming up to my one year anniversary. I currently wear a dress size 14.
I no longer take my methotrexate and can cope with ibuprofen gel and paracetamol for the pain in my knee as this has reduced massively. I am able to exercise and do so 4/5 a week. I have more energy and my back, hips and knee no longer cause me the severe pain they once did.
I have not had a flair up of my IBD since my surgery either.
It had changed my life, I’m full of energy, confidence and feel so much healthier. I know have a normal BMI too.
The operation and the weeks afterwards are not easy and it’s by no means ‘the easy option’, but it is so worth it and I wish I had done it years ago.
I have regular ‘check ins’ with the dieticians post surgery and with Prof Senapati.
