For anyone considering weight loss surgery, I can highly recommend Professor Senapati and his team.
Geoff Ward
My name is Geoff Ward.
I am now almost 63 years of age and through most of my adult life I have struggled with obesity.
Some 5 years ago I reached my worst ever weight of 169 kgs. Something had to be done and I joined a weight loss group at my local hospital, with a long term view of undertaking bariatric surgery. I did have some success in losing weight, however it was agreed between all parties that weight loss surgey would be my best course of action.
I was referred to Professor Senapati, initially on the NHS and was accepted for surgery. Unfortunately Covid 19 came along and as a consequence elective surgery was cancelled indefinitely. I felt I could not keep waiting and approached Professor Senapati’s clinic at the Alexandra Hospital. After several consultations, I elected to go for a gastric bypass as opposed to a gastric sleeve which was my other option. I had my surgery in January 2022 and on the morning of my operation, I weighed just under 150 kgs.
Initially I lost weight quickly as expected and now as I write this review ( October 23 ), my weight has stabilised at 98 kgs with a BMI of 28.7. As a result of this life changing operation, my quality of life has improved greatly. I am now on a much lower dose of blood pressure medication, no longer have sleep apnea, I am no longer pre diabetic, my cholesterol is normal and I no longer need inhalers ( I was mis diagnosed as having asthma ), but my breathlessness turned out to be weight related. For anyone considering weight loss surgery, I can highly recommend Professor Senapati and his team. The standard of care and ongoing advice I have received has been excellent. My only regret is that I wish I had done this 10 years earlier, but of course I cannot change that!
